奥巴马将着眼与亚洲加强合作

  • Obama in pledge to widen focus beyond Europe
Barack Obama will tell European leaders this week that the US would engage more actively with Asia and other regions should he win November's election, according to a senior adviser.
While the Democratic presidential candidate will pledge to work closely with Europe on issues such as terrorism, nuclear proliferation and climate change, he will caution that the US cannot rely on the transatlantic alliance alone to deal with global challenges.
“In this day and age, the US and Europe do not have the luxury of focusing solely on a single region,” Susan Rice, Mr Obama's national security adviser, told the Financial Times. “[He] will also be very engaged with Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Africa.”
